Land use data has been obtained from [31], where the surface
of the earth is divided into 44 different land ecosystem complexes of
size 
each. Although the resolution needed
was much higher than the resolution given, no attempt has been made to
add more detailed land use data by way of manual editing, use of digitized
cartographic data, etc. A filter was used to translate
the ecosystem complexes given into the twelve different land use categories
needed by the meteorological preprocessor (see Table 6.1,
p. 
). Again, no attempt has been made to extrapolate the
data to the time period of interest.
