2008-2011: appointed Director of CORMSIS,
the Centre for Operational Research,
Management Science and Information Systems, the largest groups of Operational
Research and Management Science researchers in the UK. Operational Research in
Southampton now ranks second in the UK, based on the "research power" benchmark
calculated from the results of the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise. Members
of CORMSIS include 36 academic staff and has a strong group of over 35 PhD
students. It runs five MSc programmes.

Operational Research Society).
According to the regulations of the
Society, admission to the category of Fellow indicates "...a very high
level of achievement and a major contribution to operational research.
Candidates must have a minimum of 10 years experience in OR...".
