SGTV Solent National League Squads are open to players from volleyball clubs across the Southampton area.
If you are interested in playing, please contact Solent coaches, or come along on a Tuesday evening to talk to us.
For the past few years, Solent have run Ready for Volleyball pre-season preparation sessions during August.
The sessions are open, and free, to all players and coaches from across the Southampton area.
Information on the last sessions run is shown below for reference - keep a look out for next summer's sessions.
WHO CAN ATTEND: Anyone can attend. All those interested should contact Solent to register for the Ready for Volleyball sessions. You can register via email
ATTENDANCE: You can come to one or both sessions. All that we ask is that you let us know what sessions you would like to attend and inform us if you are unable to attend a session that you had previously said you would be at. Being there on time is important and it will be beneficial to you if you are there 15 minutes before the session starts. YOU CAN ATTEND AS AN INDIVIDUAL OR WITH YOUR TEAM.
SESSION CONTENT: This is not a session designed for players to come along for 'a game of volleyball' it is a specific training focused initiative. This is an opportunity to access training information useful to all standards of play. It is also an opportunity to get yourself ready for the forthcoming season. You can participate or observe. The sessions will begin with a selection of volleyball warm-up and conditioning exercises focusing on core areas of the body. These will be useful at your own Clubs. Following the conditioning phase the tempo will remain reasonably high to include chances to work on various skills - the actual contsruction of the sessions will be based on numbers attending.
SESSION STANDARDS: The sessions will be suitable for any standard of player or coach, any exercises or volleyball drills will usually be individually based - therefore a player is working to improve their own score rather than as part of a 'team' drill. This enables you to go at your own pace. The coaches will be joining in the drills, but always on hand for you to talk to. Coaches attending to observe will be welcome to make notes.
FITNESS LEVEL: Your fitness level will not be an issue, nobody will be asked to do anything they are uncomfortable with. The emphasis is on small improvements and information exchange.
Any queries do not hesitate to contact us.
We look forward to seeing you on the 18th August.
