Teaching

I mainly teach modules in the applied mathematics, either nuts and bolts modules like Vector calculus and complex variable, or related to the application of mathematics to describe the world around us, e.g. Advanced Fluid Dynamics or Mathematical Biology.
In my teaching I try to combine traditional teaching methods, chalk and talk, with modern tools for e-learning. I use interactive quiz tools like Vevox to pose to students simple quizzes in class or to give them options about the topic of the lecture, e.g. which examples to do. I am also very interested in using e-assessment tools like Stack to improve the student experience in a variety of ways:

I have so far implemented the first two points and I am part of a collaboration with other colleagues in the School of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Southampton to implement the last point in a first year module.

I am open to collaborations in developing Stack material for teaching mathematics. Please get in touch if you are interested.
