Teaching
Some courses I teach at Southampton University
(most of these are accessible through the local Blackboard system)
MATH1020
Caluclus and Differential Equations
MATH2021
Mathematics for Electronic and Electrical Engineeers
MATH3008
Applications of Differential Equations

Research Interests
Mathematical modelling of industrial problems using partial differential
equations.
Areas include:
Growth and dynamics of solid tumours
Baking of bread products
Food processing and sterilization by heat exchangers
Blasting of rock in mines
Dispersion of pollution in the atmosphere and estuaries
Electrical behaviour of semiconductor devices
Rechargable battery behaviour.
Vibration of elastic surfaces.
Asymptotic analysis of PDE's particularly nonlinear diffusion equations.
Research details
You can find more details about my research, my
publications, and other university
activities here.
A list of recent publications can be found
here.
Or you can look on the University of Southampton's e-print server
(which is not as comprehensive yet but has more links to papers)
here
Recent overseas visitors who I have spent time here
enjoying the research atmosphere at Southampton include
Dr Mark McGuinness from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand
Dr Neville Fowkes from University of Western Australia, Perth, Australia
Dr Graeme Pettet from Queensland University of Technology (QUT)
Brisbane Australia
Dr Troy Farrell from Queensland University of Technology (QUT)
Brisbane Australia (Troy - sorry this link is broken!)
Details of a recent EPSRC funded project on the heat flow and fluid
flow in Scraped-surface Heat-Exchangers is available
here.
